Argentina is to spend Rs111.6 billion on JF-17 Thunder combat aircraft.
ISLAMABAD – According to reports out of Pakistan, Argentina wants to buy 12 JF-17 Thunder fighter jets from the country.
According to Pakistan Strategic Forum on Twitter, the South American country has formally included $664 million (Rs111.6 billion) in financing for the acquisition of fighter planes in a draught budget for 2022 that was given to its Parliament.
After considering aircraft from Russia, the United States, and India, the Argentine Air Force has decided on Pakistan's JF-17 Thunder as its preferred choice.
“The 12 JF-17s will consist of ten single-seater Block IIIs and two dual-seater Block IIIs,” the forum stated in a tweet.
The PAC JF-17A Block III is a supersonic, multirole 4+ generation fighter aircraft capable of combat air patrol, air interdiction, beyond visual range integrated battle, long-range maritime strikes, standoff range precision ground strikes, anti-radiation SEAD/DEAD missions, and electronic warfare, according to the company.
Argentina and Pakistan have long enjoyed cordial relations since Argentina backed Pakistan's motion on the right to self-determination, which is discussed each year at the United Nations General Assembly.
